love life

i had a dream that me & thomas weren't together anymore. it was weird and i wonder what that means. that there may be problems arising? i highly doubt it, because although it has took me a long time to trust what he says to me & all that, i trust him now. he tells me the truth and i know that. i cause arguments with him all the time, but when i just look at him i can't help it but smile, & then he looks at me & smiles back. that look. i rarely talk about us to others and it's because i don't want to think that i'm all lovey dovey. but i got to have somewhere to talk about it & express it because it is after all a big part of me right? there's now three sides of our relationships that we have to understand now, when we're achieving the responsibilities of class office. he has to understand that i'm not going to give him any 'special' reasons to not do what he's supposed to & we already had that discussion last week. & then the side when we're off with our friends, i'm off talking and laughing with my girls while he's off being immature with his boyfriends. then the side when we're alone & he has to give me all his attention ;D

what makes relationships work:
having to understand eachother and how we are. i can finish his sentences & most of the times, i can well predict how he's going to react to certain situations. & i can say that it's the same vice versa.
being able to have arguments & talking about it. i admit that i make us argue on purpose sometime because i like to prove that i'm always right, hahah jks, the best part is just talking it off <3
communication, & trust, & being able to just let loose & make fun of eachother.

i can write a lot, but i prefer not to. because it's still something that i'm learning to. after all, it's only (soon to be) 8months.

senior

Today is July 1st, already. & i hate how summer seems to be flying through so fast. it didn't even feel like i went to detroit! it all feels like a dream to me. mom consistantly reminds me to continue scholarships & talks about college all the time now. I know, but i also don't wish to give her an attitude because of all the pressure i know everything is placing on me. i'm not looking forward to being a senior. first thing that i have to do is get senior ball all intact. & then continue fundraising so we can afford it. it's difficult doing this all on myself, but it's also difficult trying to get 6 other people to understand how you feel about this and getting them to be serious. i feel like some of em aren't even taking this seriously and i hope they're not doing this for the sake of their college resume & i don't want to begin thinking that's their initial purpose. i loved doing all this class office thing since freshman year and up until this year, my feelings about it has indefinitely changed. imagine the thing that you used to love doing, is now the thing that's causing you the most pressure. & so much for the support from the rest of the class. everyone's just all up over their head concentrating on their own things, & i know that's what their 'supposed' to be doing, but what about me? i'm the one taking in my own time and money to plan something for the whole class to enjoy. eh.

MARCO SANTIAGO IS RELEASED!

here was my letter that i sent over to them(:

To the people who are willing to make a difference and make justice:

On Monday, June 21st, over 10,000 people came to Detroit for the United States Social Forums (USSF) to learn about the struggles and successes from people all over the country; I was one of them. As a high school student, this was a huge deal to me and soon became a life changing experience. However, the ICE raids also contributed to the life changing experience of Marco Santiago, in a different way than mine, an entirely terrible and disgusting way. I went to Detroit with my youth organization and we participated in facilitating a workshop with our alliances, Coleman Advocates. We all met for dinner the two nights before our workshop, Thursday, June 24th, to get to know each other. That night, I met 3 amazing youth of the YMAC (Youth Making A Change) branch, their coordinator, and Marco Santiago the parent reprehensive of the PMAC (Parents Making A Change) branch. Usually, I need time to be comfortable around strangers, but these people were the most friendly people who immediately made me feel comfortable. Marco didn’t hesitate to introduce himself, to take pictures with us, and to include himself in our card games. The day we met, two of my friends from AYPAL (the organization I’m in) were sick with the flu, and Marco was quick to offer them medicine. Marco has a heart that was undeniably kind to me, he so eagerly introduced himself and instead of a handshake, he hugged all of us. The day of the workshop while we were all taking pictures and having discussion, I noticed Marco intensively taking notes and working on his presentation on his laptop.

Marco Santiago is a dedicated leader in his community, being fully active in youth organizations and even in Red Cross. He is the furthest from being a flight risk, and as soon he is released, it is guaranteed that he will return to San Francisco and hire a legal attorney. He has a family at home and they are financially dependent on them. Marco took a week away from his family so he can fly across the country for the purpose of spreading the knowledge of educational justice to people across the United States and here, ICE thinks they have the right to detain this man from what is supposedly the “land of opportunity”, a “FREE COUNTRY”. I am a teenager, and I still question the justices our country claims to provide. I am against immigration deportation, and I demand the rights that belongs to Marco Santiago to be given to him. It makes me furious to know there are people out there willing to do things for their own benefits. Marco Santiago is an incredibly sincere man, and I am putting in my effort to speak out for him because of all people he does not deserve this. I’ve only known this man for 3 days, and I can still picture his smile and hear his laughter because that was all he did, remind us that through all the stress of facilitating a workshop, being optimistic is the best way to be. And so, I’m going to be optimistic and hope that Mr. Santiago is released to where everyone belongs, with the people they love.
